Alan Kleinfeld CMP, CMM

Alan has more than 25 years of combined experience in association administration, conference management, education & teaching, and public safety. During the pandemic, he served as a covid compliance officer and a pandemic
compliance advisor. He is a seasoned speaker, writer, and educator. He’s presented on, or written
about, an encyclopedia of topics including budgets, sponsorships, site selection, program development, meeting trends, tourism, and public safety. He’s worked with some of the industry’s best-known organizations like MPI,
SGMP, and PCMA, to name a few. Plus, he’s been invited to speak at events for the National Safety Council
and the Society of Human Resource Management.
His education and training work in event management covers planning, sponsorships, budget, F&B, and
administration, among others. Additional topics he’s led include public relations, career development,
communications, and emergency dispatch. Alan also served as the Director of the Lowcountry Graduate Center at the College of Charleston, where he oversaw a partnership of over 200 graduate level courses among three public institutions of higher
education. Likewise, he served as an adjunct professor at the College of Charleston in the school of
business. In addition, he served as a Board Member for the LGBT Meeting Professional Association and is a past
Chair of MPI’s Security & Risk Management Task Force.
Alan is a Retired State Constable for the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) and assisted agencies as a public safety officer all over the state for patrol, special events, emergency operations, dispatch, training, and other
law enforcement duties. His training includes event security from the Department of Homeland Security.
Currently, Alan volunteers as a member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary. Some of his honors include Newsletter of the Year, Planner of the Month, and Volunteer of the Year. In addition, he’s been recognized for his public safety
work with the Government Services Award and the Presidential Volunteer Award. His designations include CMP and CMM. He earned a Masters in Tourism Administration (MTA) from The
George Washington University.
