There has been much dialogue and conversation regarding the increased instances of micro-aggression and racism against the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community brought on by the pandemic. Often referred to as the “model and invisible minority”, Asian Americans are currently grappling with fear and uncertainty in their daily lives. Having their own unique and different experience to other people of color, this community is often referred as the silent model minority, and the AAPI voice can no longer remain silent. Join us for an important conversation led by Asian American meetings & events thought leaders who will share their personal and professional experiences on being Asian in this industry and navigating an industry where there still remains little representation.
Learner Outcomes:
1. Engage in a candid discussion about the personal experiences of Asian Americans in the meetings & events industry
2. Understand ways that our industry can be a catalyst for social change to address microaggressions and systemic racism
3. How we can all use our voices and be allies in the fight against anti-Asian racism
