Planning and staging global meetings outside the United States is fraught with negotiating, legal and financial pitfalls. Professional meeting and convention organizers must understand the issues and solutions in four key areas (Negotiating, Contracting, Currency usage, Complying with Privacy regulations) when planning international meetings.

Learner Outcomes: 

1. Understand how negotiating globally is different from negotiating in the United States

2. Identify the contract terms that are critical to include foreign hotel contracts

3. Explain strategies for handling risks with currency, deposits, methods of payment, and handling privacy responsibilities under the GDPR in global contracts
