John Flynn

Vice President of Administration, MGM Resorts International

John Flynn is Vice President of Administration at MGM Resorts International, overseeing the company’s nation-wide health and safety strategy in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. He wrote the Company’s Seven Point Safety Plan and created a first-ever national testing ecosystem operationalized for numerous industries. Mr. Flynn also oversees MGM’s Global Aviation Division, its Security Operations Division and its Art and Culture Department.

Mr. Flynn previously served as Chief of Staff to the Chairman and CEO of MGM Resorts International. In this role he worked with senior executives across the company to provide strategic leadership to advance the company’s objectives in implementing MGM’s business plan. As a representative of the Office of the Chairman and CEO, Mr. Flynn had authority to advance and implement the company’s programs and policies.

Prior to joining MGM, Mr. Flynn developed, led and implemented strategy in multiple roles with the United States Air Force (USAF), in the Pentagon, on Capitol Hill and most recently at the White House as a Special Assistant to the President and Senior Adviser to Vice President Joe Biden, functioning as the Vice President’s traveling Chief of Staff.

Mr. Flynn joined the USAF in 1999, and in 2019 was promoted to Colonel, continuing his service today at AFWERX in the USAF Reserves. He was a Department of Defense Legislative Fellow for U.S. Senator Bill Nelson and, as a C-17 evaluator pilot, accumulated more than 3,100 hours. During his 16 years on active duty, he led numerous departments at the flight, squadron and base levels.

Mr. Flynn holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Factors Engineering from the USAF Academy, a Master of Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and a Master Certificate from Georgetown University’s Government Affairs Institute. He resides in Henderson, Nevada, with his wife and three children.
