Everett J. (EJ) Mitchell II, is senior director, head of content for BOLD LLC. He is responsible for elevating BOLD’s global content strategy and content creation aimed at making the company’s brands an authoritative thought leader in the careers and employment space. His team focuses on SEO content and the building of news and information resource centers with best-in-class-advice to help job seekers produce strong resumes  and cover letters, and guide them through the job search and interview process. During his 25+ year career, EJ has created content for niche sites and led newsrooms around the United States. He has been recognized by peers and management as a motivating leader who brings out the greatest potential in each staff member to create impactful, cross-functional teams that drive business. 

Among his accomplishments:

  • Recognized as a Pulitzer Prize in Public Service finalist for work that revealed infringements in the criminal justice system which allowed lawbreakers to receive lenient treatment or no charges for crimes ranging from theft to murder.
  • Coined the term ‘carjacking’.
  • Led 280-member staff at The Tennessean to receive the state’s “best metro daily” honor.
  • Directed coverage of “Who Speaks for Black America?” a yearlong special report examining the relevance of African-American civil rights organizations.
  • Received the Gannett Supervisor of the Year award twice for my effective leadership style.
