Description
1 Clock Hour | Domain G: Meeting or Event Design
Presentation-based meetings need to be facilitated so participants want to act on the input provided. Researchers have shown that "intrinsic motivation" is promoted when people's needs for autonomy, competence, and relatedness are met. This session applies these concepts to meetings and uses a handful of facilitated meeting processes as examples.
Learning Objectives:
- Examine the three needs that meetings must serve to be successful venues for participant involvement and learning: autonomy, competence, and relatedness.
- Implement six 3- to 10-minute small-group or open-floor reflection and interaction processes that may be facilitated during meetings of any size.
- Meet several other really interesting people that keep reappearing later during the meeting for further professional exploration and friendship.
