#RealTalk is BACK! Come engage in deep-dive conversations around the DEI topics that matter most today. For our first installment, we will be talking about the growth of DEI initiatives over the last 50 years, and a forecast on where we will see growth in the next 50.
In today’s diverse and global world, researchers emphasize individual cultural value orientations rather than placing primary emphasis on the cultural values of entire ethnic groups or nationalities. This is important because it recognizes the diversity that exists within all cultures (no national or ethnic culture is homogeneous). For example, the United States is often described as the most Individualist culture in the world, and China is often described as the most Collectivist culture in the world. But not everyone in the United States is an Individualist and not everyone in China is a Collectivist. Cultural values are also a useful way to talk about cultural differences using neutral terms, rather than pejorative ones. For example, this allows you to talk about a direct versus indirect approach to communication rather than a “rude” or “deceptive” approach.

Digital Experience | Destination: YOU – Social Wellness & The Value of Authenticity 09.20.2022
September 20, 2022 | 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM CST | 3.0 Clock Hours | Domain A: Strategic Planning
We often say that meetings are the spaces where we change the world. When people come together under the auspice of transformational events, they often leave emboldened, better, more determined to be an agent of that change.
With this, we must continue to not only think critically about what we are contributing back to the world we impact daily, but also, how we contribute, and how we create space for others to participate.
When we think about topics like wellness, or inclusivity, not only who they include, but who have they historically excluded, and how do we change that dynamic? Join us for our first installment of Destination: YOU where we explore how wellness, identity, and authenticity intersect to create meaningful change for individuals, within our events, and within ourselves.

Setting boundaries ... it is something we all hear about, talk about, and maybe even promise ourselves "this time, I am going to stick to it." But somehow, we always end up falling into the same habits that made us want to redefine our boundaries in the first place! Emailing late at night, working on days off, skipping family functions to get work done - and so many more. Maybe you have boundaries outside of work that you are challenged to maintain. Here is the thing - if you can't keep a boundary in place, it is likely because it is the wrong kind. In this webinar, we will work through my picket fence or brick wall boundaries model, and discuss the different types of boundaries, where they work best, how to maintain them, and more. Why? Because holding space for yourself, and enhancing the way you live and work helps to make you a fuller, more robust person and professional.

Long before the “she-cession” of the COVID-19 pandemic, industry verticals within the meetings & events space have sorely lacked equitable representation. In the world of AV and event production, rarely do we see a majority female workforce, especially in leadership representation. In fact, according to the Audio Engineering Society, women make up just 5% to 7% of audio engineers and event producers. Our partners at Grit Productions & Expositions, however, have managed to create a highly successful business model with a ceiling-shattering approach to how they remain on the cutting edge of ensuring women are at the forefront of their brand and team.
Join us for a conversation with Charlotte Miles VP, Productions and Delaney Owen, Account Manager as they share “What Takes Grit” to build, maintain, and evolve a successful career in event production. Learn from their individual career experiences, and how they are purposefully changing the face of the production industry, one event at a time. The session will conclude with a rapid-fire Q&A round with Grit Partner and VP of Sales & Marketing, Leigh Massey.
