Dear World’s distinctive message on skin portraits have been called a "loudspeaker for the world”. Robert X Fogarty is the founder of the series that now numbers over 100,000 portraits. Dear World began when Fogarty began asking residents of New Orleans to write a "love note to their City" and he soon recognized that the project could take on more stories regardless of religion, race or language. He has photographed thousands including survivors of the Boston marathon bombing, Syrian refugees as well as recognizable people like Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus, Susan Sarandon and Drew Brees.
