Barry Schieferstein is the Director of Conferences and Meetings at the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT). Holding both the Certified Meeting Professional and Digital Event Strategist certifications, Barry leads a team that plans, and produces, several events each year ranging in size from 25 to 2500. He entered the meetings industry full-time after a career in retail sales management. It was in retail where he honed his skills in customer service which he has carried over into the events he is involved with. He considers all stakeholders like customers and service providers as partners. After spending more years than he cares to admit in the retail world, Barry found a new passion in conference planning in positions with the State of Ohio and Ohio State University before moving over to ASNT. Barry grew up in Northern Ohio on Lake Erie and moved to the Columbus area to attend college. He a lifelong Ohio State Buckeye fan and has been married to his very supportive wife Kathy for almost 25 years. Together they have a 21-year-old son, Aaron
